European Pharmacopoeia adds GC tests for EG and DEG in four polyol monographs
Tests for ethylene glycol and diethylene glycol in sorbitol and maltitol materials enter Issue 13.3, effective 1 July 2027.
The European Pharmacopoeia Commission adopted gas-chromatographic tests for ethylene glycol and diethylene glycol in four sorbitol and maltitol monographs. They appear in Issue 13.3 and are scheduled to take effect on 1 July 2027 in the applicable European region.
Laboratories testing these excipients should identify affected specifications, obtain the official text and plan method verification before implementation. The freely available announcement does not replace the complete monographs.
