Shimadzu and Kobe University develop automated metabolomics preparation system
The research system links microbial culture, timed sampling, metabolic quenching, extraction and dispensing before LC-MS.
Shimadzu and Kobe University announced a research-stage system that automates microbial culture through sampling, quenching, centrifugation, metabolite extraction and dispensing into analytical plates. Linking these steps can reduce differences in processing time before LC-MS measurement.

Laboratories interested in time-course metabolomics should assess sample timing, carryover and compatibility with their analytical method. The announcement describes development of a system, not a generally available commercial product.
